In martial arts we learn about rivalry, two people can't win a fight. Conflict is often generated by rivalry because both parties are trying to defend their ground, or prove they are correct and the other is wrong. One has to decide to back down and hopefully remove the need for a fight. There is also what I refer to as highly toxic people who claim to be peaceful, what they're actually doing is avoiding conflict because they rather not deal with the problem. Should you lose your temper, you become the one at fault while they become victims and the problem remains unsolved.
